There is a point when careers take a U-turn, well some at least. People change gears and make a turn and head in the opposite direction of what they are known for. With his new album Qismat Apnay Haath Mein, Shehzad Roy does exactly that. The album was launched yesterday at the Juvenile Jail that is a complex within Karachi Central Jail
itself. And having been afforded a preview of the album by the star, Instep can see why that makes sense.
This is Shehzad Roy more political than he has ever been. Gone is the lover boy singing ballads, his album that the holler of a Pakistani man wondering what went wrong with us and why? It is hard hitting, yet fun and tongue in cheek. The video of 'Laga Re' that is on air now, marks a new image for Shehzad and is a magnificent comeback vehicle for director Ahsan Rahim.
