petaDishoom.com's Interview with Strings:

Tell us how you started out.
We Strings started our musical career fifteen years ago when we started singing in class at college to beat the boredom. Before we knew it, we'd become a regular feature in all the college breaks and in the college canteen. Looking at the response we were getting, we decided to give music a serious thought.

What's your favourite vegetarian dish?
Bilal: Dal and karela
Faisal: Bhindi fry

Why do you think it's important to support animal protection?
All animals need to be protected. Every life should be valued – especially birds, aqualife and animals. Most times, these creatures are pretty defenceless in front of human strength – be it pure physical or our ammunitions. We believe that when the universe was created, it was to benefit and fit all living beings, but sadly, today nature and its basic inhabitants seem to be losing their place here and it is leading to eco-disasters. We need to restore this balance once again.

Do you think it is important to preserve wild animals' natural habitats? Why?
Yes, because their ecosystems are important to preserving the biodiversity of Planet Earth, and they have as much a right to life as we do.

What do you have to say about animals who are forced to perform out of fear of being whipped or beaten, such as animals in circuses?
Inhumane and barbaric. There may have been a time when this was considered entertainment, but no civilised society today can condone such activity, even if it means unemploying a bunch of human beings.

What would your message be to young people about protecting animals?
Live and let live. The right to life is sacrosanct.

John Abraham appears in the video for the title track of your new album, Koi Aane Wala Hai. How did this happen?
We know John ever since we did the song for the movie Zinda. Over the years, we've become friends, and when we composed the title track of the album and then the video idea came about, we knew that John had to be a part of the video. When John heard the album, he, too, was equally excited about the project.
