Music lovers turn out in full force to see Zeb and Haniya and ADP rock the house
While the impact of the Mumbai terror attacks has hit home quite hard, and many a soul is worried at the repercussions it may have in Pakistan, Karachiites put their bravest foot forward and went out to see Zeb and Haniya and Aunty Disco Project put on a great show at the opening of Ego's second branch at The Forum. Karachi hasn't seen a live (and free!) concert in eons; it was great to see these musical acts perform their hearts out. In attendance were a slew of celebrities and music aficionados - including Shahi Hasan, Sanam Saeed, Adnan Pardesy, Ayesha Toor, Tara Mehmood and Naday Ali. Zeb and Haniya performed together with the boys from Coven - Sikandar Mufti, Hamza Jafri and Sameer Ahmed. And to see this event happen at a mall for anyone and everyone to come and see was a delight - this is exactly the kind of stuff that needs to happen in Karachi for people to have a great night out, as well as introduce different musicians to a larger audience who may not have heard of them. Haniya (who hobbled around on a sprained foot) told Instep Today that their tour to India is questionable now after the Mumbai terror attacks, since they were still waiting on their visas. The girls were scheduled to perform in three cities - Chennai, Bangalore and Pune.
Designer Adnan Pardesy, also a fan of the female musical duo told Instep Today, “Its such a relief to see anything happen in Karachi!” One hopes others take the cue from this bunch of young musicicians and put on a show for all of Karachi to enjoy.
